A Body-Centered Approach to Therapy and Creative Process
The body has its own ways of speaking through gesture, shape and breath—as well as through pain, tension, anxiety and other symptoms. If we can learn to listen to this language, following it like Ariadne’s thread, it can lead us to the heart of our healing. It can lead us to the missing pieces of the past to resolve old issues. It can reveal aspects of our power and development that have been hidden from us, and it can point to our higher purpose that may be trying to realize itself in our lives. The body can then become a guide and a deep resource-- the place of our power and vision, our home, our ground, the place of centering and deep well-being.
“Oh friend, understand the body is like the ocean,
rich with hidden treasures.
Open your inmost chamber and light its lamp.”
--Miribai
