How long does it take?
The duration of therapy depends on many factors--what your goals are, how complicated your situation is, what kinds of supports you have, and what you want. I will talk with you about your particular situation and we will discuss how the therapy might or might not work for you. We'll also sort out what you can expect in the short term and what may be longer term goals.
In your first session, you and I will probably have a sense of whether or not we're a good match. Sometimes you might need 6-8 sessions to really get a feel for what the work is like and how we work together. How long you then engage in the therapy depends on what you discover and what you want. Throughout the course of therapy, you and I will discuss how it is working for you and what your options are.
